Guys… it’s here.
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve spent the past 2 years working on an Advent devotional. I’ve been a writer for, well, my whole life, but, the idea of writing a book always seemed too big, too far away or just too “different” for me.
But… as he has a way of doing… God nudged at my heart, over and over again. Finally, I decided to try my best to listen.
Here’s the thing: I’ve been a Christian since I was small. I’ve had times where that faith has felt “hot” and times where it has felt “cold,” even to the point of me pushing it really far away. Then, a few years ago (as you know if you read my blog regularly), God uprooted our family and sent us to Asheville, North Carolina. While there, we became a part of a church plant that pushed us to dive into scripture regularly. My husband and I took it seriously and soon began to realize we craved time with God and learning from his Word.
Fast forward a bit. Between that realization and the tug at my heart to put a few words inside a book and make it available for others, it all came together. While many of us know we are to spend time with God, we struggle to make it happen. This is ESPECIALLY true during Advent, which seems to become crazier and crazier each year.
Draw Near is an answer to this (I hope). It features daily scriptures, discussions and even journal prompts and a space to journal inside it, all in a tiny package to make jumping into time with God as simple and natural as possible.
I won’t give it away, but, the title is very intentional. The Bible makes it clear that we are to draw near to our Savior…but, it also promises that he’s waiting with arms wide open to draw near to us. My hope is that this devotional will help you open your ears and heart to what God might be trying to tell you through his own words, during the Advent season and beyond.
